About
Massage Hydrotherm and You!
What is massage therapy?
Massage is one of the world’s most ancient healing arts. For thousands of years, people in places as far apart as Greece, India, Egypt and China have used its therapeutic effects to treat a wide range of ailments.
Modern medical studies have proven what the healers in ancient civilisations always knew – that massage can reduce anxiety, unease and depression and leave a deep and lasting sense of calm and relaxation.
We now know that massage stimulates the release of enjoyable endorphins – the chemicals that make us feel happier – and reduce unwanted bursts of adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine – the so-called “stress hormones”.
We couldn’t agree more – and so do our many satisfied clients!
What our clients say about Hydrotherm Massage
That you can have a full body massage while lying on your back is incredible. No awkward turning over halfway through, no embarrassing mark on your face from lying with your face in a strange-shaped hole!
You can relax for the whole hour of your treatment. The water bed is so comfortable and warm – it’s just bliss.
Hydrotherm Massage
Hydrotherm differs from other types of massage because it is carried out with you lying face-up on two cushions filled with warm water, and heated to between 30-40 degrees.
Swedish massage, deep tissue massage and other techniques have been adapted to provide you with the ultimate body massage experience.
The placement of warm–water cushions ensures that the whole of your back is always in comfortable contact with the heated area. This ideal for people who find it uncomfortable to be lying face-down for long periods.
The water supports the body throughout the therapy, and the heat from the warm-water cushions encourages any tight muscles to relax, before the massage even starts. Your knees are slightly raised with lumbar support. Furthermore, the system is designed to provide perfect spinal alignment whilst you are lying in this position.
Our massage therapists will use oil to slide hands between your body and the warm-water cushions. This means that the pressure is always applied in an upwards motion, rather than downwards, which works well against the body’s weight.
That is why there is no need for you to turn over at any point throughout the treatment.
In conclusion, Hydrotherm is suitable for everyone!
Above all, it is particularly soothing for women who are in the latter stages of pregnancy.
Soft tissue manipulation is just as effective for non-active people as it is for top athletes. All of our treatments are carried out using the Hydrotherm massage technique.
Don’t worry – you won’t get wet! The water in the cushion pads is thoroughly sealed in!
